About R & M Rustics
This page is under construction. Isn't that what you often read on web sites, especially sites that are new or expanding. Well in reality this site will always be under construction. But you didn't come here to read about that construction.
Let me tell you a little about the people that bring you this furniture. At this point in time my wife and I operate this company alone. She will tell you that she does very little as far as the construction of the furniture is concerned, and while that may be true, she is an invaluable asset when it comes to the presentation of the items at shows and the support she gives me in producing it.
Someone far smarter than I once said, "Don't give up your day job." While I don't necessarily agree with that in all situations, it has served me well. I taught for fifty years and at the end of the 2018-19 school year my wife and I decided to retire from teaching and closed our Lutheran classical education school at Living Word Lutheran Church in Marble Falls, Tx. I still serve there as the Staff Minister and would invite you to worship any Sunday at 10:30 am.
During all the years that I taught I have also followed a passion instilled in me by my father. Not giving up his day job either he enjoyed woodworking, producing many projects for friends and family. His interest quickly rubbed off on me and before I knew it I was hooked. I haven't regretted it for a minute and look back to those early days of bird house building with fond memories.
After many years spent building many different items for friends and family just as my father had (some of those projects can be seen at the bottom of this page) I decided to venture into the field of 'produce for pay' building. At first I thought that I would be able to just build what people wanted, but the projects became to diverse. That is where my wife became invaluable in this process. She convinced me that I should choose a certain type of product and stick to building that product.
This is how I came to build Adirondack style furniture. Although the style has expanded somewhat, the elements are still the same.
Now that I have retired the amount of time I can devote to the production of this furniture has increased. I spend a good deal more time building. Normally, unless the order is large or I have a number of orders to fill, I can complete the process in two weeks. I will always inform you of the time frame we will be working with and work to stay within that time frame.
